About the NMI Chapter

    HAFA ADAI yan TIROW WAMI

    Welcome to the Northern Mariana Islands (NMI) Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)! Established in 1997, our chapter has served H.R. professionals in the CNMI for over 20 years.

    We are proud to embody the essence of "Hafa Adai" and "Tirow Wami" within our community. Committed to hospitality and unity, we welcome members and visitors alike with the warmth and openness characteristic of our culture. 

    Through our events, initiatives, and interactions, we strive to uphold the values of "Hafa Adai," extending kindness and inclusivity to all. Additionally, we honor the principle of "Tirow Wami," fostering mutual respect, understanding, and support among our members as we work together to advance the HR field in the CNMI. 

    Objectives:

    • Foster fellowship and cooperation among members, enhancing understanding of mutual challenges faced by H.R. professionals and beyond in various sectors.
    • Facilitate ongoing education and enhance the operational effectiveness of H.R. professionals.
    • Promote and uphold high ethical standards and professionalism within the human resource function, gaining recognition for our commitment to excellence.

    MEET OUR PRESIDENT

    ROMAN TUDELA

                                      

    Roman Tudela is a dynamic young business professional with a solid educational background. He obtained his undergraduate degrees in Business Administration and Management from the Northern Marianas College before pursuing his MBA with the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. 
     
    Beginning his career as an H.R. intern in 2015, Tudela quickly demonstrated his talents and dedication, securing full-time roles within the H.R. offices of the CNMI Public School System and Northern Marianas College.
     
    Currently, Tudela has redirected his focus to the CNMI Small Business Development Center, where he serves as the Marketing Manager, leveraging his expertise to support the growth and success of local businesses. 
     
    In addition to his professional achievement, Tudela is an active member of the SHRM CNMI Chapter. Since joining in 2019, he has held various board roles, including Membership/Marketing Director, Vice President (President-Elect), and serves as the 2024 Chapter President. Through his leadership and commitment, Tudela continues to make significant contributions to the H.R. community and business environment in the CNMI. 
     

    PRESIDENT'S 2024-2025 GOALS

    As the 2024 Chapter President, Roman is focused on expanding membership and cultivating a diverse and inclusive community of HR professionals.
     
    His goals include organizing enriching networking events and discussions to provide members with valuable insights and connections. 
     
    Additionally, Roman is dedicated to elevating the perception of HR as a crucial career path for the future generation, emphasizing its importance in the evolving professional landscape of the CNMI.
