June SHRM General Membership Meeting to feature University of Guam’s, Dr. John Rivera, discussing Emotional Intelligence in the workplace.

Mr. Keith Sonderling, Acting Administrator and Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division.

Mr. Sonderling, the highest ranking official in the agency, will be visiting the region and discussing the agency’s Proposed 541 Salary Rule Change, the Payroll Audit Independent Determination (“PAID”) program, and related topics.

Mr. Vince Camacho,  SHRM Guam’s Vice President of Legislative Affairs and Managing Principal of the Camacho Calvo Law Group.

Mr. Donald Clark will discuss ESGR services in the CNMI as well as the Uniformed Services Employment & Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) including how USERRA affects employment and the rights and responsibilities of employers under USERRA. This labor law may be complicated and confusing, yet relevant, for many employers in the CNMI. Mr. Clark will also discuss how to build or improve relationships with your employee’s military supervisors or managers.

Representatives from the Northern Marianas Business Alliance Corporation (NMBAC), having just returned from a door-knocking visit in Washington DC, will provide information on efforts to update the expired CNMI Prevailing Wage Survey and how this will affect the submissions of FY 2020 CW petitions. NMBAC will also discuss other provisions and requirements of the NMI US Workforce Act of 2018, U.S. Public Law 115-218, such as the 30-day “touch back” requirement.
